Moon Seeds: Early Body Awareness for Girls Ages 4-7

Give your child a gentle, positive start to understanding their body—well before they ever need to prepare for puberty.

Moon Seeds is a mother and daughter workshop in Salt Lake County and Utah County for girls ages 4-7, designed to introduce early body awareness in a way that feels calm, natural, and safe.

Just like First Moon Circles support children as they approach puberty and their first period, Moon Seeds begins even earlier—helping shape how your child feels about their body long before they need the practical information.

About Moon Seeds

Moon Seeds is a beautiful, playful, and grounding kids workshop in Utah where young girls and their mothers come together to explore the idea that bodies grow and change in natural rhythms.

Through story, movement, creativity, and connection, children are introduced to early menstrual awareness in a way that feels:

  • safe
  • age-appropriate
  • and easy to understand

Rather than focusing on detailed menstrual education, Moon Seeds focuses on building:

  • early body trust
  • comfort with change
  • and a positive emotional foundation for future learning

Before children are ready for first period education and puberty workshops in Utah, they benefit from something even more important:

A sense that their body is good. That change is normal. That nothing about growing up needs to feel confusing or scary.

Moon Seeds creates that foundation so that when your child is ready for a First Moon Circle in Salt Lake or Utah County, they arrive feeling open, comfortable, and already familiar with the idea of body rhythms.

This is early puberty education for young girls in Salt Lake City and Utah County, designed to support families who want to start these conversations early—without overwhelm.

What to expect at Moon Seeds

This is a 90-minute, in-person mother daughter experience in Utah designed to feel calm, engaging, and meaningful.

Children learn best through play, imagination, and connection—and this workshop is built with that in mind.

🌙 A guided moon story

We begin with a simple and engaging story about the moon and how it changes over time.

Children naturally connect with the idea that:

  • sometimes the moon is bright and full
  • sometimes it is small or hidden
  • and it is always the same moon

This becomes the foundation for understanding change in a way that feels safe.

🩰 Movement and play

Children are guided through simple, playful movements that mirror the changing moon.

They’ll explore what it feels like to:

  • be small and quiet
  • grow and stretch
  • be bright and expressive
  • slow down and rest

This helps build early body awareness in a natural, embodied way.

🎨 Moon craft

Each child will create a simple moon-inspired craft to take home.

This becomes a meaningful reminder of what they experienced and learned during the workshop.

💬 Mother + daughter connection

Mothers are gently guided to share simple, supportive language with their child.

This helps establish comfort and openness around conversations about the body—both now and in the future.

🌙 A gentle introduction to body rhythms and periods

Toward the end of the session, we softly introduce the idea that:

  • all bodies have rhythms
  • even grown-ups have body rhythms
  • and as girls grow older, their bodies begin a monthly rhythm

Children are guided to understand this as something natural—just like the changing moon.

🤍 Moon bracelet

Each child will create a simple bracelet to take home.

This serves as a reminder of:

  • their body’s natural rhythm
  • and the positive, supportive experience they shared with their mother

What your child will gain

After attending this girls workshop in Salt Lake City / Utah County, your child will have:

  • a positive early association with body changes
  • a basic understanding that bodies grow and change in natural rhythms
  • a sense of safety and openness around talking about their body
  • a shared experience with you that supports ongoing conversation at home

Meet Your Facilitator

Elizabeth Tidwell is a mom of a young daughter, and a former university educator turned menstruality coach. She is passionate about helping everyone recognize the power of menstrual cycles, and wants to transform the entire culture around menstruation.

She has been leading First Moon Circles for girls 8-14 since 2024, and created Moon Seeds when her own daughter, who is too young for a First Moon Circle, one day groaned that she didn't want to have a period when she grew up.

Elizabeth quickly realized that meeting girls with empowering first period education is still leaving a gap for younger girls who still need a positive personal relationship with their bodies and the idea of cycles, years before they're ready for the puberty education. Moon Seeds was born!

FAQ

Do you accept educational scholarships?

Yes! My Club Red is an approved service provider through the Utah Fits All scholarship program and the Children's First Education Fund.

If your child is a recipient of either of those scholarships, you can use their scholarship funds to cover the cost of their Moon Seeds enrollment!

My child is older than 7; can they attend?

Yes, if you feel your 8-year-old would benefit from attending Moon Seeds before attending a First Moon Circle in the next couple of years, feel free to enroll them.

I'd love for my child to attend but they're a bit apprehensive. Can you help?

I totally understand! This is a brand new experience for them on a taboo topic--that's a lot of unknowns!

Truly this is such a gentle approach to cycles--most of the concepts focus more on cycles of the moon and the concept of change. Once that's been established, near the end of the class we layer in the introduction to periods.

The foundational introduction to periods comes through reading a story, so it's less direct and introduces the idea with a soft touch.

Are payment plans available?

Yes! Simply click the "Buy with Shop" button at checkout.

I don't live in Utah--do you offer virtual Moon Seeds classes?

At this point, Moon Seeds are only offered in-person, but you can add your email to the form at the bottom of the page to hear if that changes! Also, do reach out to me to make that request--I won't know you want it unless you let me know =)

I live in Utah but am outside of Utah County. Will you be offering Moon Seeds in my area?

My goal is to reach as many children and families as I can in my local community, including Utah County and its surrounding counties. I'm always on the lookout for venues across the valley.

But the best way to ensure I come to your area is to let me know that you'd like me to offer Moon Seeds near you!

You can contact me, join the waitlist, and let me know where you're located. It also helps me immensely if you let other families know about Moon Seeds so we can be sure to have a great gathering.

Is there any religious content included?

None at all. The focus of Moon Seeds is to educate and empower children around the concepts of bodies, cycles, change, and growth through the lens of nature. These circles are suitable for, and welcome, everyone from any religious background.
